#39 Craft Your Scraps 5 Minute Card

Hey Crafters! Welcome to a fabulous card from the 5 minute video series on YouTube. This beautiful card, #39 in the series, looks complicated but, as you can see by the timer in the photo, we finished with 14 seconds to spare! Click HERE to see this card come together quickly on YouTube.

Scroll down for the supply list and instructions.
Supplies:
Craft card stock
*Decorative paper(s) 5 inches long or more
Scissors
Foam Tape
Glue

Start with a craft color top folding A2 note card (4.25 by 5.5 inches) and additional card stock.

Cut a 4x5 1/4inch card from from the remaining craft color card stock.

*The decorative paper shown here was made using distress inks with a smoothing technique. Water was sprayed on and then removed for the distress  effect.

Starting about 1/4 inch in from the side, Cut several wave like patterns horizontally leaving  1/4 inch on each side uncut. Make sure you do not cut the wave design all the way through the sides.

We made 7 wavy lines on this card front. Can you see that beautiful wavy lines cut on the craft card stick below?

Trim 3 strips approximately 1x5 inches from decorative paper.

Weave the strips into the waves forming a basket weave like pattern.
TIP! To do this simply alternate over, under, over, under, etc. The next strip will start under, over, under, over, etc. The last strip will be the same as the first; over, under, etc.

Spread the strips evenly from side to side until you have it spaced how you like it. Secure the pattern paper strips to the craft card front on the top and bottom of the card using some liquid glue.

That looks so pretty!

Fussy cut, punch from decorative paper or grab a beautiful butterfly from your stash. Bend the wings up for added dimension. Attach just the center of the butterfly to the card front with wet glue.

Adhere the finished card front to the card base using some foam tape and, ta da, the card is ready. Add your sentiment when you need the card.

DIY Envelopes ~ No Punch Board Needed!

Hey Crafters! You have asked for it and here it is ...
How to create an envelope WITHOUT a punch board!
It is quick and easier than you might think.

Check out the full video on YouTube HERE,
Supplies and instructions are listed below.

Supplies:
Bone Folder optional
Stamps & Ink or Markers to decorate your envelope as desired

Instructions:
TIPS ~
Please note that this project calls for paper rather than cardstock. Copy paper is appropriate and perfect for making a digital print or otherwise decorating to match your card.
For a standard, rectangle shape card, measure diagonally and add 1 inch to that measurement. Then create a square of that size in paper. *For A2 size card you will need a 8 inch square paper.
For a square card, measure diagonally and add 2 inches. create a square of that size of paper.
For a round or odd shaped card, begin with a 12 x 12 sheet of paper and trim as appropriate.

Step 1 - Place the square paper you created from your measurements as a diamond shape in front of you with your card in the center of the paper.

Step 2 - Lift the bottom of the paper and fold it, keeping the card as your guide. Fold both the sides in making sure the bottom edges line up and the points meet in the middle.
Lastly bring the top down so that the envelope can close.

Step 3 - Once done folding all the sides, open them and remove the card. You will see small triangles formed on all four sides, cut them out to remove bulk. Score all your folds once again folding the sides in before the bottom.

Step 4 - Now add liquid glue (your favorite) to both side flaps and attach the bottom part. Viola!  Your envelope is ready to decorate or embellish as you like.  Simply add your card and glue the top down when you are ready to ail or hand deliver.
**NOTE ~ USPS charges extra for oversized or odd shaped envelopes that cannot go through the standard sorting machine.

See YouTube Video HERE
for different sizes and shapes of cards.

Pinwheel Card ~ No Fancy Tools Required!

Hey Crafters! Welcome to a quick and
easy PINWHEEL Card tutorial.

This card looks tricky but it isn't and you
don't need any fancy tools to create it.

Click HERE to watch the tutorial on YouTube.
Scroll down for the supply list and instructions.

Supplies:
Ruler
Pen/Pencil
Scissors
Card stock

Start with 6 x 6 inch cardstock
Line your ruler at one edge of
Mark it of at 2 1/4" and 3 3/4"
Repeat on all three sides.

Turn the cardstock to look like a diamond with one of the pointed edges towards you.

Connect the two dots that are furthest in, give it a score.

Do this all the way around the card.

You will be able to see the four small triangles that have been made on the card stock.

Trim those areas off.

<<<------- You will end up with something like this. Turn the cardstock sideways, so that one of the straight sides of the cardstock is towards you (not the pointy edge).

Mark the bottom of the cardstock from the outside at 3/4" using your ruler. Repeat for all four corners.
Connect the tip of the small triangle and the mark just created, make score marks using ruler or bone folder.

Repeat the above for all four sides.

Fold all the score lines and you will have something like this.

(Refer to the picture)
------->>>>

Now flip the card and close it.
Close each flap one by one, covering the corner edges with the next flap.

When you have closed three flaps and you reach the fourth one, just tuck that corner edge into the flaps closed to secure it and make sure it doesn't open.

This is what you get once you have followed all the above instructions carefully. This pinwheel card looks even  better when you use double sided pattern paper to make it.

Share your Pinwheel card with the KoalaTCrafts community at FACEBOOK !  It's a fun community of crafters offering support and inspiration in a No Commitment, No Drama atmosphere.
